History: Jacksonville Beach Elementary School is a Gifted and Academically Talented Magnet School within the Duval County School District. We serve students in grades K-5 with full time teachers in library, art, music, computer and PE. Our school originated in a private home in 1928 and served the African American children of the Beaches. In 1939 the second wing was built and served this population. During the 1950′s there was significant construction which added three new wings and an administration building. In 1968 the school was desegregated through designating it a sixth grade center for all Beaches children. A completely new school was built on the same property in 1999 which houses our current students. This facility includes a full Video Production lab, art and music classrooms, and a Media Center with over 15,000 volumes. We now serve as a dedicated Gifted and Academically Talented Magnet School.
